A SHAWL THAT DRAPES THE SHOULDERS

Written in honor of everyone who contributes to the welfare and well being of our children. The children of this world, who are our future.

I grew up in a culture, where teachers of all forms are regarded. Respected for the social responsibility that they carry on their shoulders. To celebrate the teachers and scholars,  a shawl is draped over their shoulders as a sign of respect to the social responsibility they carry.

                               A SHAWL THAT DRAPES THE SHOULDERS

A shawl to soothe the shoulders
The shoulders which hold the responsibility
The responsibility, the future of our children
Our children, the future of our humanity

Humanity, the service for global sustenance
Sustenance, held by the shoulders
The shoulders under the shawl are noble
The noble responsibility beyond self

Self-soaked in gratitude
Gratitude leads to giving
Giving is what is living
The living is what is sharing

Taking is for mere survival
Keeping is purely for sustenance
Sharing is the meaning of living
A well-lived life is, when we survive, we sustain and we live beyond self .....sr

Today I had a discussion with my grad school friends, regarding an international political situation .Which involves the justice system and celebrities. I felt like, that I had some clarity on the topic from my perspective and shared the following opinion with them. This is how it went... 'I believe that we had a similar discussion in the past, about the public figures and celebrities...' We fail to make a clear distinction between ones performance as a celebrity and their personal values for life, as an individual. The quality of the person as a fellow Human being. Not how they look or how they talk , not just the similarities we are looking for , but as to know who they actually are at a human level. For most of them, we do not know much of their real self. We only know what they project themselves as or what media shows them to be. So I do not show blind devotion to a person even if they are great at their job, no matter how rich, famous and powerful they are.

When I look into the eyes of people, some stay with me. leaving me in a state of wonder.... never quite get what is behind them..... then I end up wondering , to wonder even more until I pen it....and pin it down...                                                 The Universe in the depths of an EYE The eyes, that are a wonder to me  The eyes, that intrigue me  The eyes, that passed by me The eyes, that touched my muse......
