RE-SAIL

A pause changes you forever from inside Time is not always on  your side Family's deep-rooted banks Love and trust around your side Friends are like the oars, by your side Strength and affection alongside A boat well made with values deep-seated Back into waters, ride smooth navigated No matter what turbulent time brings to your side Self Respect, dignity, righteousness, and courage filled inside The sails are set strong to push the currents and winds aside Re-sail is only a part, rather than a restart aside Oh, how blessed to have love and affection by the side With the banks, oars and more on your side Then, the time has to be on your side No matter, what the world decides to side.....sr

Start-Finish Line

I chose to be there at the start of the race Babies being born to start the life's race Determined to get them strong to sprint the race I start their race with a Grace Though my startline was not by my choice The race so far has been a rejoice To forget the unpleasantaries, is a choice I plan to finish my race with dignity and grace..sr The start and finish lines are inevitable and unpredictable for most part. The lines cannot be drawn by our choice We can only wish for, plan and accept.....sr

ETHICAL LEADERS

Recently, I read about what it takes to develop an ethical leader from a book. This is from the author's perspective. But I felt like keeping it in a place so I can refer to it often, as a guide or more as a reminder.                                    ETHICAL LEADERSHIP 1. People of Integrity and decency 2.Confident enough to be humble. They are secure due to their character and competency 3.They are both kind and tough. 4 Transparent and honest 5.Aware that we all seek meaning in work 6.They are aware that what they say is important, but what they do is more important. We should demand and develop ethical leaders, the kind of the leader one wants to follow and the kind to be followed.

The perplexed mind.. over the spread and appetite

This morning after my walk, I sat down to read my messages. One of them asked a question. I am going to translate it, but never the less, a philosopher's question... My mind is perplexed as what to do... Should I increase my spread to fit my appetite? Or should I resolve my appetite to fit the spread? My take on this... There is a time in life where we need to increase the spread to fit the desires Then, there is a time in life, the desires are resolved to fit the spread And there will be a time where there is more spread left to share with others Knowing when to shift the gears is the key... sr Please note the choice of the word resolution, vs suppression. Resolution is getting over an issue, you have grown above it. Suppression is when it could return any time in the future.

A SHAWL THAT DRAPES THE SHOULDERS

Written in honor of everyone who contributes to the welfare and well being of our children. The children of this world, who are our future. I grew up in a culture, where teachers of all forms are regarded. Respected for the social responsibility that they carry on their shoulders. To celebrate the teachers and scholars,  a shawl is draped over their shoulders as a sign of respect to the social responsibility they carry.                                A SHAWL THAT DRAPES THE SHOULDERS A shawl to soothe the shoulders The shoulders which hold the responsibility The responsibility, the future of our children Our children, the future of our humanity Humanity, the service for global sustenance Sustenance, held by the shoulders The shoulders under the shawl are noble The noble responsibility beyond self Self-soaked in gratitude Gratitude leads to giving Giving is what is living The living is what is sharing Taking is for mere survival Keeping is purely for sustenance Sh

Insecurity- one of many perspectives

Ms. Barnes, is a kind hearted lady. She is  one of the school chaperones who accompanied her son's school symphony to an out of state event.. It is a lot of responsibility to under take to take a large group of high school students to an out of state event. Very rewarding in the end but many good peoples effort and resources went into its success. I truly appreciated all of their work from the bottom of my heart .I certainly did my share in my own small way. It is heart warming to realize that, this experience would make a lasting memory to  all kids and adults alike. Ms. Barnes expressed and educated me on what all they had to do to make this event happen. And also some of the challenges as to raise money . The most striking one for her is that some cultures don't think beyond their own child. And she had to explain to them why it is important to raise more money so all the students could go to the event. If there is not enough money for all, then no one goes to the event. I

Where is The Class ?

My visit to New York. I loved the whole experience. The city so marvelous, fabulous and fantastic, I called it , 'The Man made Jungle'. Along with all the wonderful things to do in New York, I watched a show , 'The Chicago'. A story about adultery, betrayal, crime, extortion, exploitation, murder, greed,  charm, love,  lust and everything else. It is a very well done show, thorough entertainment with talent, beauty and the hard work behind the scenes very apparent through out the show. After they have shown everything else in the show. The show ended beautifully with the two actresses, expressing their discontent in life, asking a question as where is the CLASS in our society? That made me thinking.... When one or the other way, becomes a way of life for us and if every thing around us is the same. We don't miss the other. Our reality is what we are and what we see around us. Until we get sick and tired of our way, then we look for what else is out there. I w

Where do I stand on the line?

Lately, most of my ideas are inspired from the talk on social media. After all, I got hooked on to it too. Not that I agree every thing that is said, but I get some meaningful facts for myself from them. This particular topic was about 8 facts  Genuine and Fake people...                  GENUINE PEOPLE                                                FAKE PEOPLE 1. They respect everyone                                      They only respect people with power 2. They don't try to make people like them           They try hard to make people like them 3. They are not attention seekers                           They are desperate for attention 4. They don't brag                                                  They show off all the time 5. They express their opinion openly                     They gossip a lot 6. They try their best to live up their promises      They make commitments easily, seldom keep them 7. They admire others and often praise them         They criti

Life and disaster decisions in minutes...

It made me think, when I was asked this question, as how do I make quick decisions on a job where sometimes, living or letting go is a choice ... Knowledge, skill, practice, experience, passion, purpose and  on and on, are all important in such practice. But what actually makes it possible is objectivity and being able to hyper focus on the task. Though we want to believe in a perfect storm, in my business everything is accountable, only if we have the capacity to see the facts. when something doesn't fit a picture, then we are missing something. we have to pause and reassess the situation to gather more facts. The common quotes in my job for myself are... when in doubt check it out. ... prepare well before hand to prevent drama after... prepare for the worst but shoot to get the best.... procrastination only adds more work and embarrassment later...certainly makes me look very busy but not productive. have to have fear or regard for your job, if not negligence is bound t

May the Creation live in peace (in one piece)

Today, there was a discussion on a social media about the differences in all the organized Religions. Though the discussions on Religions are considered sensitive topics at many places, I felt like commenting on the contrary of what was being said. This is how my perspective went.... 'thank you for sharing....this is my take on the subject ' Usually the facts presented in social media can be interpreted which ever way we want to present. we can glorify one Religion over the other or demean one against the other. A quote from Mahatma Gandhi... states no matter which religion you belong to or born into, be a good follower of that religion. Because if you understand your religion well and develop a mastery over it, you will understand that all religions preach the same values. LOVE. Actually all religions teach basic Human values. We understand those facts only if our intent is purely to learn and grow as human beings. Instead most of the time we, the people choose to int

WHO deserves my LOYALTY and DEVOTION ?

Today I had a discussion with my grad school friends, regarding an international political situation .Which involves the justice system and celebrities. I felt like, that I had some clarity on the topic from my perspective and shared the following opinion with them. This is how it went... 'I believe that we had a similar discussion in the past, about the public figures and celebrities...' We fail to make a clear distinction between ones performance as a celebrity and their personal values for life, as an individual. The quality of the person as a fellow Human being. Not how they look or how they talk , not just the similarities we are looking for , but as to know who they actually are at a human level. For most of them, we do not know much of their real self. We only know what they project themselves as or what media shows them to be. So I do not show blind devotion to a person even if they are great at their job, no matter how rich, famous and powerful they are.

Gems from the Turkish poet RUMI

Wisdom of RUMI 1.What is poison? Anything which is more than our necessity is poison. It may be Power, Wealth, Hunger, Ego, Greed, Laziness, conditional Love, Ambition, Hate or Anything. 2.What is fear? Non-Acceptance of Uncertainty. Boss and Bill

In a Boss pleasing culture, no one wants to see or talk about pitfalls in a self promoting passion. Specially when momentum is in one direction. Then there are lot of people whose goal is to jump in, into the momentum.... hoping to go for a piece of the winning glory.                                           Boss and Bill Boss and Bill , went up the hill To fetch a pail of big fat Bonus Bill said what pleased the Boss Boss heard nothing but what Bill said Boss heard nothing else either Self promoting passion with blind spots and pitfalls Bill fell down and broke his crown Boss and All came tumbling after All , were left to mend their own crowns While Bill went on to a higher post Boss moved on to a new venture Repeat , Boss and Bob went up the hill.... Accountability is only for those who follow rules, regulations and legalities... For those who count on public emotions and  short human attention span... Money, power and brain to navigate the loop holes in the

WHITE COATS

Doctor's Day was celebrated on March 30th In honor of the WHITE COAT.... a symbol, for dedicated service to the Humanity. A White Coat is earned by the Doctors, with sheer hard work, focus and commitment. It should be worn with pride ready to serve the patients.                                       White Coat D uty before self O ften self needs are neglected C ounts on honesty and integrity T rue to self and the world around O utstanding perfectionist R elationships matter S acred to human healing ....sr Myth, White coat syndrome... it is never supposed to be a status , power or intimidation symbol.
